Delhi Metro Evolution: Two New Corridors in Phase 4
After the Lok Sabha election in India, Phase 4 of Delhi metro expansion will gain momentum. In phase 4, the tender process for two new corridors is decided to start soon. Two corridors Indralok-Indraprastha and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block will cover a combined distance of 20.76 km. These corridors promise to significantly enhance the capital’s metro network.
This project was approved by the government in March 2024 with the budget of Rs 8,399 crore. Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will stretch for one kilometre and will go underground whereas Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block route will be fully boosted. Both projects have already had their foundation stones laid.
Some of the ongoing metro projects are Janakpuri West-RK Ashram, Majlis Park-Maujpur, and Tughlakabad-Aerocity. Together, these corridors will span 65.20 kilometres. And after adding two new corridors Delhi metro network will extend to 478.4 km.
